Spin class bikes

After cranking out a few early morning road miles in my first attempt at a bike workout, I decided to give the spin class at my gym at try.

Never done one before and was a bit nervous to try it, but excited at the same time. I did some recon the night before to get up to speed and be ahead of the game. Here's a few of the videos I found helpful as well as the tips I used:

  • Get to class at least 10-15 mins early. This give you time to set up your bike

  • Correctly setting up your bike is vital to having a good (injury free) workout

  • You're gonna sweat. Bring a towel and keep it close

  • Bring water. No shock here, but I wasn't sure what type of bottle would fit on the bike. I opted for a standard size store bought x2. Now that I know, I'd recommend something with a straw or that's easy to open.

  • Wristband for wiping sweat was helpful

  • Pace yourself and don't try to kill it your first time. It's a hell of a workout

How to: Setup your Bike:

In the end, I had a great workout! I got high intensity, varied resistance and fast paced. Much better than riding around the block with no hills. Going forward, I'll definitely be mixing it into my workout plan (Ref Sprint Triathlon workout plan on active.com).
